I believe that the initial reports from the Hurricane was that it was not as severe as Ivan. I live in North Carolina, and we've had our share of Hurricanes also. The name "HUGO" is still remembered here in the Carolinas. I was also in Pensacola in 1996 when a category 1 hurricane, Erin, hit. I was at a Christian School Teachers retreat at Pensacola Christian College when she hit.
I know before worship this morning, Dennis had grown back to Category 4 and winds of 145. That would have been very destructive to the Pensacola area, as Hugo was similar in strength. I'm thankful for Dennis' weakening and Praise the Lord for his mercy.
